Some of these books I’ll be reading along with my teen students as we explore ancient literature together, some have been sitting on my bookshelf for many years which I have not quite gotten around to reading myself, and some authors and books are new to me.
I’m kicking off my reading year with Howard’s End ~ a new to me author I’m reading with friends.
This book has been on my shelf for a couple of years now and it's one I keep returning to every couple of months. As we continue our life with chickens, and gardens, this book provides ideas and inspiration for a vision that is both practical and beautiful, and can be thoughtfully implemented one step at a time.
The key is patience.
I am slowly working my way around the perimetre of the chook run, creating a garden plant by plant along the fencing. This garden will have an assortment of plants the chooks don't fancy with a few other herbs and flowers scattered in between.
Of course, no plant is safe from scratching chickens and these old pavers are perfect for protecting roots from hungry-for-bugs chickens.
